Seek Yahweh, all you humble of the land, who have kept his ordinances. Seek righteousness. Seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden in the day of Yahweh’s anger.
Zephaniah spoke to people heading into hard times, and his advice was surprisingly simple: seek God while there is still time. That invitation wasn't just for prophets or priests. It was for ordinary people willing to live honestly before Him, and it's for us too.
So what does seeking God actually look like on a busy Monday? It can start small. A short prayer before your feet hit the floor, or a pause to ask, 'Lord, what do You want from my day?' before you open your phone or your inbox.
Notice that seeking God is paired with seeking righteousness and humility. In real life, that looks like telling the truth when a lie would be easier, owning your mistake at work instead of covering it up, and choosing to listen instead of insisting on being right. Humility is simply being honest about who God is and who we are.
And there is a beautiful promise tucked inside: those who seek God are hidden in Him when trouble comes. That doesn't mean life will be easy. It means that when the storms arrive, and they will, you'll be sheltered by the One who controls the weather.
Start today with one small step. Pick one moment, like your commute or your lunch break, and turn it into a conversation with God. Seeking Him is a habit built one ordinary day at a time.
Dear Lord, teach me to seek You in the middle of my ordinary, messy days. Make me humble enough to admit my need for You and brave enough to live rightly when it costs something. Thank You for being my shelter. Amen.
