instructing us to the intent that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we would live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age;
God's grace doesn't just forgive us and leave us where we are. It actively trains us, like a good coach, teaching us to say no to what harms us and yes to what honors Him. That means purity isn't about white-knuckling your way through temptation. It's about letting grace reshape what you want in the first place.
In real life, this starts with what you let into your mind. The shows you stream, the accounts you follow, the conversations you linger in — these all either feed purity or feed the flesh. If something keeps pulling you away from God, it's worth asking honestly: is this helping me or hindering me? Sometimes the bravest spiritual act today is simply closing a tab or walking away.
Notice that the verse doesn't tell us to wait for a better season to live this way. It says now, in this present age, with all its noise and pressure. Purity is worked out in traffic, at work, on your phone at midnight, and in how you treat people who irritate you. God isn't asking for perfection overnight — He's asking for a heart that keeps turning toward Him.
So pick one area today. Maybe it's your screen habits, an old grudge, or a thought pattern you've excused for years. Bring it into the light, tell a trusted friend, and ask the Holy Spirit for strength moment by moment. Saying no to sin gets easier when you're saying yes to Someone better.
Every time you choose purity, you're not just resisting something — you're becoming more like Jesus. And that, friend, is worth every hard choice.
Dear Lord, thank You that Your grace teaches me and strengthens me, not just saves me. Help me say no to what pulls me from You and to live today in a way that honors You. Make me pure in thought, word, and deed, for Your glory. Amen.
