Many waters can’t quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man would give all the wealth of his house for love, he would be utterly scorned.
Real love is tougher than we give it credit for. Life throws plenty of water at our relationships — stress, sickness, money worries, hurt feelings — and it can feel like those floods should wash everything away. But genuine love doesn't work that way. It holds on when circumstances get hard.
So today, ask yourself: where are the waters rising in your life right now? Maybe it's tension with your spouse, distance from a friend, or frustration with a family member. Don't treat love like something fragile that breaks at the first storm. Choose one small, deliberate act of love anyway — a kind word, an apology, showing up when it's inconvenient.
The second part of this truth matters just as much: love can't be bought. You can't earn someone's affection by impressing them, and no pile of gifts can substitute for a heart that's truly present. If you've been trying to buy love with performance or people-pleasing, you can stop. Real love is given freely or not at all.
That's good news, because it's exactly how God loves you. His love for you didn't depend on your best day, and it won't be canceled by your worst one. Let that sink in — then love someone today the same way: steady, free, and expecting nothing back.
