Romans 8:18

For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which will be revealed toward us.

Romans 8:18 · Hope
Reflection 1

Everyone carries something heavy. Maybe it's a diagnosis, a strained relationship, a job that drains you, or grief that still shows up uninvited. Paul wasn't writing from an easy chair when he penned these words—he had been beaten, imprisoned, and abandoned. Yet he dared to say that our worst days cannot outweigh what is coming.

Reflection 2

Notice the little word 'consider.' Paul didn't say he felt it in the moment—he weighed it deliberately, like placing two things on a scale. On one side sits today's pain. On the other sits the glory God has prepared, and the scale tips completely toward glory.

Reflection 3

So how do you live this out today? Start by being honest about your hard thing—hope doesn't mean pretending you're fine. Then, out loud or in a journal, name what you're looking forward to: seeing Jesus, being reunited with loved ones, a world with no more tears. Speaking it out loud retrains your heart to look past the immediate.

Reflection 4

And when you meet someone else who is struggling, pass this hope along. Sometimes the best way to remember the scale tips toward glory is to remind someone else that it does. Shared hope grows stronger.

Prayer

Father, thank You that my hardest days are temporary but Your glory is forever. When today feels heavy, help me lift my eyes to what You have promised ahead. Strengthen my heart with that hope until I see it with my own eyes. Amen.
