Romans 14:17

for God’s Kingdom is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.

Romans 14:17 · Joy
Reflection 1

We often hunt for joy in the wrong places. We think a good meal, a new purchase, or a smooth week will finally make us happy. But real joy doesn't come from what's on our table or in our calendar. It comes from God's Spirit living inside us.

Reflection 2

That's good news, because it means joy is available even on the messy, ordinary days. It's not the loud kind of happiness that disappears when plans fall apart. It's a steady gladness that stays because God stays. You don't have to wait for life to get better before you can have joy.

Reflection 3

This verse also reminds us not to let small things steal what matters most. We can spend our energy arguing over preferences, comparing ourselves to others, or stewing over minor frustrations. Before you fight for your position today, ask yourself: is this worth my peace and joy?

Reflection 4

So here's a simple practice for today: pause a few times and invite the Holy Spirit into your moments. Thank God for one small thing each time. When joy starts to drain out of your day, don't push harder—pray and ask Him to refill you.

Reflection 5

Joy in the Spirit grows as you lean into Him, not as you chase better circumstances.

Prayer

Dear Lord, thank You that Your joy doesn't depend on my circumstances. Fill me with Your Spirit today, and help me hold on to peace and joy instead of getting tangled up in small things. In Jesus' name, Amen.
