Psalms 90:12

So teach us to count our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Psalms 90:12 · Wisdom
Reflection 1

Moses wrote this prayer near the end of a long life, and he had learned something we often forget: our days are limited. Most of us drift through our weeks acting like we have endless time. We put off the apology, delay the phone call, and save the kind words for later. But later is never guaranteed.

Reflection 2

Counting your days isn't about being gloomy or obsessed with death. It's about waking up with purpose. When you remember that time is a gift, you stop wasting it on grudges, comparison, and endless scrolling, and you start investing it in what actually lasts.

Reflection 3

Try a simple habit this week: each morning, before your feet hit the floor, ask God one question — 'What matters most today?' Maybe the answer is calling your mom, being fully present with your kids, or finally forgiving someone. Wisdom often looks less like big decisions and more like small, faithful choices made on purpose.

Reflection 4

You don't need to do everything; you just need to do what matters. When you number your days, ordinary moments stop feeling ordinary. A shared meal, a whispered prayer, an honest conversation — these become the real work of a well-lived life.

Prayer

Dear Lord, teach me to number my days, not with fear, but with intention. Help me let go of what doesn't matter and pour myself into what does. Make today count for You. Amen.
