Teach me your way, Yahweh. I will walk in your truth. Make my heart undivided to fear your name.
A divided heart is one of the most common struggles we face today. We love God, but we also chase approval, money, comfort, and the endless scroll of our phones. The writer of this psalm understood that, and instead of pretending to have it all together, he simply asked God to make his heart whole again.
Start today by honestly asking: what is competing for my devotion? Maybe it is worry that keeps stealing your peace, or a habit you know is pulling you away from God. Name it. You cannot surrender what you refuse to see.
Notice that this prayer asks to be taught, which means coming to God like a student, not a expert. That looks like opening your Bible even when you are busy, and pausing to pray before making decisions. Then walking in His truth means putting it into practice in ordinary moments, like being honest when a lie would be easier or forgiving someone who does not deserve it.
Purity of heart is not about perfection, it is about direction. When you catch yourself drifting, do not beat yourself up. Just turn back, ask God to refocus your heart, and keep walking. He honors every small step taken toward Him.
Father, teach me Your ways and give me a heart that belongs fully to You. Show me anything that is dividing my devotion, and give me the courage to let it go. I want to walk in Your truth today. Amen.
