Psalms 71:1

Everyone runs to something when life gets scary. Some people hide in their bank account, others in a busy schedule, others in the approval of people around them. But a refuge is only as safe as what it's made of — and only God never crumbles under pressure.

Making God your refuge isn't a one-time decision; it's a daily habit. Try this: before you reach for your phone in the morning, take thirty seconds to say, "Father, I'm running to You today." When worry hits mid-day, pause and whisper a quick prayer instead of spiraling. Small moments of turning to God build a lifetime of trust.

Notice the psalmist asks God to never let him be put to shame. That's an honest prayer — it admits we can't guarantee outcomes, but we can guarantee where we're standing. Trusting God doesn't mean nothing goes wrong. It means that when things do go wrong, you won't be abandoned in the middle of it.

So today, name the one thing that's making you feel exposed or afraid. Then do something radical: hand it over, out loud, to God. Take one small step forward in obedience and let Him be the one who holds the results.

Dear Lord, today I choose to run to You instead of everything else I've been hiding behind. Be my safe place when I feel weak, and keep me from being put to shame as I trust You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
