Sometimes God lets life press on us hard enough to break something, like our pride, our stubbornness, or the habits we keep running back to. It hurts, and David knew that pain deeply when he prayed this prayer after his own failure. But notice what he asks for: not just relief, but joy that reaches all the way down to the bones.
Psalms 51:8

Let me hear joy and gladness, that the bones which you have broken may rejoice.
Maybe today you feel crushed by regret or weighed down by consequences you can't undo. Don't run from God in that place, run to Him. Honest confession is the doorway where brokenness turns into gladness.
Practically, ask God to help you hear joy again. Play worship music while you get ready in the morning. Thank Him out loud for three specific things. Speak His promises over your situation until your heart starts to believe them.
And when joy returns, don't keep it to yourself. Share your story of restoration with someone who is still in the broken place. Your rejoicing might be exactly what gives another weary soul hope.
Dear Lord, I bring You my broken places, the regret, the guilt, and the weight I have been carrying. Let me hear Your joy and gladness again, deeper than before. Restore me, Lord, and let my whole life rejoice in You. Amen.
