Psalms 23:4

We all hit seasons that feel like walking through a dark valley. Maybe it's a scary diagnosis, a job loss, a broken relationship, or grief that won't lift. Here's the good news tucked inside these words: the valley is a place you walk through, not a place where you live. Hard seasons are real, but they are not permanent.

Notice that the courage in this psalm doesn't come from feeling strong. It comes from knowing who is walking beside you. Today, practice saying it out loud when fear shows up: "God, You are with me right here." Say it in the waiting room, on the hard phone call, or in the middle of the night when worry keeps you awake.

Also, remember that the shepherd carries tools for the journey, not just for sunny pastures. His guidance and His protection are meant to steady you exactly when the path is hardest. So take the next step even if you can't see the end of the valley. You don't need to see the whole road; you just need to trust the One holding the rod and staff.

One more practical idea: don't walk the valley alone in a practical sense either. Send the text, join the prayer group, ask a trusted friend to check on you this week. God's comfort often arrives through His people, so let someone come alongside you today.

Dear Lord, thank You that I never face my darkest moments alone. When fear rises today, remind me that You are right beside me, guiding and protecting me. Help me take the next step in courage and trust You through the whole valley. Amen.
