Psalms 18:27

There's real comfort in knowing that God sees the difference between a proud heart and a humble one. He draws close to the person who's been knocked down but is still reaching for Him. And He lovingly deals with the pride that keeps any of us looking down on others.

Pride usually sneaks in through small things: correcting someone just to sound smart, brushing off advice because you've got this, or quietly believing your success is all your own doing. Catch yourself in those moments today. A helpful question to ask is this: am I trying to be right, or trying to be like Christ?

Humility is more caught than talked about, so make it practical. Admit when you don't know something. Let someone else have the last word. Say thank you to God out loud for something you usually take credit for.

And keep your eyes open for the people who are struggling around you. God lifts up the afflicted, and often He does it through our hands and our willingness to listen. Being that person is humility in action.

Pride builds walls, but humility builds bridges, and God promises to honor the person who walks low. Start small today, and let Him handle the lifting.

Dear Lord, keep my eyes humble and my heart soft. Show me where pride has crept in, and open my eyes to someone who needs Your kindness through me today. Amen.
