Nobody signs up for pain. When life hurts—through sickness, loss, or disappointment—our first prayer is usually “make it stop.” So it can feel strange to think that anything good could come out of a hard season.

It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.
But trouble has a way of getting our attention. When life is easy, we tend to skim over Scripture. When we are hurting, we slow down, read honestly, and cling to every promise—and that is often when God's Word finally takes root deep in us.
Here is a practical step for today: instead of only asking God “why,” try asking Him “what.” What do You want to teach me right here, right now? Then open your Bible, even if it's just for a few minutes, and let one verse be enough for today.
Healing usually begins in the heart before it ever shows up in our circumstances. And the lessons you learn in this affliction will not leave when the pain does. They will stay with you, quietly shaping you into someone stronger and closer to God.
Dear Lord, I don't like the pain I'm walking through, but I trust that You can use it for good. Teach me in this season and help me hold tightly to Your Word. Thank You that Your healing is already at work in me. Amen.
