Psalms 119:127

Think for a moment about what you guard most carefully. Most of us know exactly how much is in our bank account, we track our spending, and we feel a jolt when money is tight. The writer of this psalm says his love for God's instructions runs deeper than that — more precious than even the purest gold. That is a heart check worth taking.

This shows up first in how we spend our time. Many of us check our finances, the news, or our phones every single day, but open the Bible only once in a while. What if Scripture received even a small slice of the attention we give to money matters? Ten honest minutes with God's Word each morning can do more for your life than a raise ever could.

It also shows up in our decisions. When a choice promises profit but requires cutting a corner, we reveal what we truly treasure. Choosing honesty over a shady deal, generosity over hoarding, integrity over a shortcut — that is treating God's commands as more valuable than gold.

Try one small thing today: before you handle money — paying a bill, making a purchase, checking your balance — pause and ask what God's Word says about it. Let His commands guide your wallet, your work, and your week. Small, steady choices train our hearts to treasure what actually lasts.

Remember, gold can be stolen, spent, or lost in a market crash. But the wisdom and peace that come from living God's way stay with you through every season. When you build your life on His Word, you are investing in something no economy can touch.

Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I have prized money and possessions above Your voice. Teach me to love Your Word more than anything I own, and help me live it out in my choices today. Amen.
