Psalms 118:1

It's easy to thank God when things are going well. But this verse doesn't say give thanks when you feel like it. It says give thanks because He is good. His goodness and His loyal love toward you don't rise and fall with your bank account, your health, or your circumstances.

Here's a simple practice: before you ask God for anything today, thank Him for three things you already have. Your morning coffee, a job to go to, a friend who answers your calls. When you start counting what God has already provided, you begin to see that you're more blessed than you thought.

Gratitude also changes how you handle what you don't have yet. When you trust that His loving kindness endures forever, you can thank Him even in the waiting, believing He is already working on your behalf. Thanking God before the answer comes is one of the strongest acts of faith there is.

Finally, let your thankfulness spill over onto other people. Tell a family member you appreciate them. Thank a coworker sincerely. A grateful heart toward God naturally becomes a generous, encouraging heart toward the people around you.

Dear Lord, thank You that Your goodness and love never run out, no matter what my day looks like. Open my eyes today to the blessings I've been overlooking, and help me live with a thankful heart. In Jesus' name, Amen.
