Proverbs 9:10

Wisdom doesn't start with being smart, experienced, or well-read. It starts with something much simpler: a right view of God. To fear Him isn't to be scared of Him — it's to hold Him in deep reverence, the way you'd respect something far bigger and greater than yourself. When God is in His rightful place in your heart, everything else starts to make sense.

So here's a practical starting point: before you make today's decisions, pause and invite God into them. That tense conversation you're dreading, the purchase you're weighing, the words you're about to speak — take ten seconds and ask, "Lord, what honors You here?" That small habit of putting God first is where real wisdom takes root.

Notice that the verse also talks about knowing the Holy One. Wisdom isn't just about rules — it's about relationship. You don't get understanding from a formula; you get it from walking closely with God. That means making time for Him, not just on Sundays, but in the ordinary moments: a quick prayer in the car, a verse read over lunch, an honest conversation during your day.

When you live this way, you'll notice something shift. Choices get clearer because you're seeing them through God's eyes instead of just your own anxiety. You become slower to react and quicker to listen. The world chases cleverness, but God offers wisdom — and it's available to anyone humble enough to start with Him.

Dear Lord, teach me to honor You above everything else in my day. Help me seek Your wisdom before my own opinions, and draw me closer to You in the small, ordinary moments. Amen.
