Proverbs 3:34

Surely he mocks the mockers, but he gives grace to the humble.

Proverbs 3:34 · Humility
Reflection 1

Have you noticed how God responds to the way we carry ourselves? He doesn't play games with proud people. When we act like we know it all and need no one, He lets us feel the weight of that. But the moment we bend low and admit our need, His grace pours out like water on thirsty ground.

Reflection 2

Pride shows up in small, everyday ways. It's the refusal to say “I was wrong” to your spouse. It's brushing off a friend's advice because you're sure you've got it figured out. It's quietly keeping score of all the ways you're better than the people around you.

Reflection 3

Humility is just as practical. Today, try listening before you speak. Apologize without adding a “but” to the end of it. Ask for help with something you'd normally struggle through alone. Serve someone without mentioning it to anybody.

Reflection 4

Here's the good news: humility isn't about thinking you're worthless. It's simply being honest—honest about who God is and who you are. And the wonderful surprise is that when you stop striving to prove yourself, you find God standing right there, ready to lift you up with grace you could never earn.

Reflection 5

Prayer

Father, forgive me for the times I've held my head so high that I couldn't receive Your help. Teach me to walk humbly today—quick to listen, quick to admit my need, and quick to lean on You. Pour out Your grace on me as I open my hands instead of clenching my fists. Amen.
