Proverbs 29:11

A fool vents all of his anger, but a wise man brings himself under control.

Proverbs 29:11 · Wisdom
Reflection 1

Anger comes to all of us. Someone cuts us off in traffic, a coworker takes credit for our work, a family member says something hurtful. The feeling itself isn't the problem — what we do with it is where wisdom shows up.

Reflection 2

Letting it all out feels good in the moment, doesn't it? Firing back that text, saying exactly what we think, making sure everyone knows we're upset. But venting rarely fixes anything. It usually leaves a trail of hurt behind, and often a pile of regret too.

Reflection 3

Wisdom looks different. It pauses. It takes a breath, steps away from the conversation, and waits for the heat to pass before speaking. Self-control isn't weakness — it's quiet strength. Anyone can explode; it takes real character to hold steady.

Reflection 4

So today, when frustration rises, try this: delay your response. Take a walk, say a quick prayer, or simply stay quiet until your heart settles. You will rarely regret holding your tongue, but you will often wish you had.

Prayer

Father, help me slow down when anger rises. Give me the strength to pause instead of explode, and fill my words with grace instead of fire. Amen.
