Proverbs 28:13

We all have things we'd rather keep hidden—a habit nobody knows about, a sharp word we never owned up to, a choice we're ashamed of. Hiding feels safer in the moment. But deep down, we know the weight of it is wearing us out.

Concealing sin isn't always an outright lie. Sometimes it looks like making excuses, blaming someone else, or simply staying too busy to deal with it. Whatever form it takes, hiding keeps us stuck, carrying a burden we were never meant to bear alone.

God invites us into something better: honesty. Confessing means calling our sin what it is, plainly and without softening it. Renouncing goes a step further—not just admitting it, but turning away from it and asking God to change our hearts.

Here's the beautiful part: mercy is waiting on the other side. God isn't hovering with a list of punishments; He's ready to forgive and help you start fresh. So today, bring that hidden thing into the light—name it in prayer, and if you can, share it with a trusted friend who will encourage you.

Dear Lord, I don't want to carry hidden sin anymore. Give me the courage to be honest with You and the strength to turn away from what's been holding me back. Thank You that Your mercy is waiting every time I come clean. Amen.
