Proverbs 18:1

When life gets hard, our first instinct is often to pull away. We stop answering calls, skip church, and tell ourselves we just need space. Sometimes that's true for a moment, but Proverbs warns that isolation isn't neutral. It quietly pulls us toward selfishness and away from wisdom.

Think about it: when we cut ourselves off, we stop hearing honest feedback. We start living in our own heads, where our feelings become the only voice we listen to. That's a dangerous place to be, because left alone, we rarely challenge ourselves. We just protect ourselves.

So what does living this out look like today? If someone has hurt you, don't disappear. Tell a trusted friend what you're really feeling instead of saying "I'm fine." Answer that text. Show up to the small group even when you'd rather stay home.

And if you're already isolated, take one small step this week. Call one person. Share one honest sentence about how you're doing. God designed us to grow together, and He often delivers the wisdom and comfort we need through other people, not in spite of them.

Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I've pulled away when I needed people most. Give me the courage to stay connected and the humility to let others speak into my life. Thank You for never leaving me alone. Amen.
