Proverbs 17:9

Everyone who loves real people gets hurt sometimes. A friend says something careless. A family member forgets something that mattered to you. Love shows up in that moment, not in the absence of offense, but in what you do with it.

Covering an offense doesn't mean pretending it never happened or letting yourself be mistreated. It means refusing to broadcast it, hold it over someone, or bring it up in every future argument. You deal with it quietly, forgive honestly, and let it stay in the past.

Think about how it feels when someone does this for you. They don't tell others about your mistake. They don't remind you of your worst moment. That kind of love builds trust, and trust is where deep relationships grow.

Today, think of one small offense you've been carrying, maybe something someone said or didn't say. Choose to lay it down. Skip the replay in your head, skip the retelling to a friend, and watch what happens to your heart toward that person.

Dear Lord, thank You for covering my offenses completely through Your grace. Help me extend that same mercy to the people around me today. Make my love quick to forgive and slow to keep score. Amen.
