There's a simple difference between a wise person and a foolish one, and it's not intelligence or education. A wise person pauses to think about where their choices are actually leading. A foolish person just drifts along, telling themselves everything is fine. One reviews the map; the other never checks it.
Proverbs 14:8

The wisdom of the prudent is to think about his way, but the folly of fools is deceit.
So what does this look like today? Before you make a decision—big or small—take thirty seconds and ask, "Where does this road go?" Before you send that text, make that purchase, or commit to that plan, think it through to its end. Wisdom is often just the habit of looking a few steps ahead.
This also applies to the patterns in your life, not just single moments. How are you spending your time? Is that habit helping you or quietly draining you? Once a week, sit down for a few honest minutes and take stock of your way—your habits, your relationships, your priorities.
And be careful not to fool yourself, because that's the real trap here. It's easy to say "it's not a big deal" about something you know deep down is pulling you the wrong way. Prudence means being honest with yourself first, then acting on what you see.
Father, help me be honest with myself about the way I'm living. Give me the courage to pause, examine my steps, and change direction when I need to. Make me wise, not just busy. Amen.
