Proverbs 14:16

Wisdom starts with taking God seriously. When we respect Him, we also respect the things He warns us about. We don't flirt with sin or play with fire—we walk away from it.

A fool does the opposite. He acts first and thinks later, letting anger, impulse, or excitement drive the car. We've all been there, saying or doing something in the heat of the moment that we'd give anything to take back.

So build in a pause today. Before you send that text, make that purchase, or fire back in an argument, take a breath and ask yourself: where does this road lead? Wisdom often lives in that small gap between feeling and action.

Shunning evil isn't about being timid—it's about being smart. If you know a situation trips you up, don't linger near its front door. Protect yourself ahead of time, and you won't have to fight so hard in the moment.

Remember, caution isn't weakness. It's the mark of someone who trusts God's way over their own reactions. The careful path may feel slower, but it leads somewhere good.

Father, give me a heart that takes You seriously and a mind that pauses before it reacts. Keep me from reckless choices, and help me walk away from what harms me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
