Words can do real damage. A piece of gossip, a sharp comment, or a false rumor can tear down someone's reputation or crush their spirit in a moment. You have probably watched it happen, and if you're honest, you may have been part of it too. The Bible doesn't treat careless talk as a small thing, and neither should we.
So today, be the person who builds instead of breaks. Before you speak about someone, run your words through three simple questions: Is it true? Is it kind? Is it necessary? If any answer is no, hold your tongue. Choosing silence is often the strongest, most godly thing you can do.
There's also real comfort in the second half of this truth: knowledge delivers. When you know what God says about you, careless words lose their power to define you. Someone's gossip or insult may sting, but it cannot destroy a person who is rooted in God's truth. That is genuine deliverance, and it's available to you right now.
So guard your mouth and feed your mind. Spend time in Scripture each day, even a few verses, so truth is ready when criticism comes. Walk away from conversations that trade in tearing people down. Over time, you'll find that godly wisdom doesn't just protect you, it makes you a safe place for others.
Dear Lord, guard my mouth today and help me use my words to heal, not harm. When others speak carelessly about me, anchor me in Your truth so their words cannot shake me. Thank You for the wisdom that delivers. Amen.
