What we enjoy says a lot about us. Some people get a thrill out of cutting corners, gossiping, or bending the truth—it feels fun in the moment. But the person who truly wants to live well learns to find joy in something better: doing the right thing, even when no one is watching.
Here's a question worth sitting with today: what makes you smile? What do you look forward to? If we're honest, most of us feel a pull in both directions—toward what's easy and wrong, and toward what's good and right. Wisdom grows when we start feeding the right appetite.
Practically, this means paying attention to your small choices. When someone shares a bit of juicy gossip, notice whether you lean in or change the subject. When you're tempted to fudge a number or stretch the truth, remember that integrity might cost you something today, but it builds a life you won't regret tomorrow.
And here's the good news: delighting in wisdom doesn't mean being serious and sour all the time. It's actually the opposite—it's discovering that the deepest joy comes from living the way God designed you to live. Ask Him to make wisdom something you genuinely love, not just something you put up with.
Dear Lord, help me find real joy in what is good and right, not in shortcuts and small compromises. Make wisdom my delight, and shape my heart to love the things You love. Amen.
