Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do: forgetting the things which are behind and stretching forward to the things which are before,

Philippians 3:13 · Focus
Reflection 1

It's so easy to live in reverse. We replay old mistakes, nurse old wounds, or even sit on old victories instead of moving on. Paul, who had plenty of both failures and accomplishments in his past, made a deliberate choice: he stopped looking back so he could keep pressing forward.

Reflection 2

Today, ask yourself what's keeping your eyes on the rearview mirror. Maybe it's regret over a broken relationship, a habit you keep falling back into, or a season of life that's over. Whatever it is, name it before God, and then practice letting it go — not once, but every time it comes knocking.

Reflection 3

Forgetting the past is only half the verse. The other half is reaching toward something: a goal, a calling, a next step God has for you. Focus works like this — you can't stare at what's behind you and walk toward what's ahead at the same time. So pick one small, forward step you can take today, and take it.

Reflection 4

When old thoughts pull you backward this week, don't beat yourself up. Just gently turn your heart forward again, the way you'd redirect a wandering child. God's grace covers yesterday completely, and His strength is available for today.

Reflection 5

Prayer

Father, thank You that my past does not define my future. Help me release what's behind me and fix my eyes on what You have ahead. Give me the focus and courage to take the next step with You today. Amen.
