Philippians 1:9

We often think of love as something that comes from the heart, but Paul reminds us it needs our heads too. Real love isn't just warm feelings—it's love that knows what to do and when to do it. The people who bless us most aren't just kind; they're kind with wisdom.

Think about your closest relationships. Sometimes love means speaking up, and sometimes it means staying quiet and simply listening. Discernment is what helps you tell the difference. It's what separates a friend who offers quick advice from one who truly understands what you need.

Today, before you respond to someone, pause and ask two questions: 'Is this loving?' and 'Is this wise?' That could apply to a text message, a conversation with your kids, or a hard decision at work. Love without discernment can accidentally hurt people, even with the best intentions.

Here's the good news: this kind of love is meant to keep growing. You don't have to be perfectly wise today—just a little more loving and thoughtful than yesterday. God grows this in us gradually as we stay close to Him and pay attention to the people He's placed in our lives.

Father, teach me to love not just with my heart but with wisdom. Help me see what the people around me truly need today, not just what feels easy to give. Make my love grow deeper and wiser every day. Amen.
