God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good?
Think about how many times someone's word has let you down. A friend canceled at the last minute. A boss promised a raise that never came. After enough broken promises, we learn to hold everyone loosely — and sometimes we hold God loosely too.
But here is where our hope rests: God does not operate the way people do. He doesn't exaggerate, forget, or change His mind when circumstances get hard. Every word He has spoken carries His full character behind it, and His character never shifts.
So today, take one promise of God and actually live like it's true. If He says He will never leave you, stop rehearsing your loneliness and start talking to Him as someone present. If He says He is working all things together for your good, refuse to let one bad week rewrite what He has declared.
And when God seems slow, don't mistake silence for unfaithfulness. A delayed answer is not a broken promise. Anchor your hope to who He is, not to how fast things move — because the One who spoke has never once failed to make it good.
If you're carrying a disappointment from a person who let you down, bring it to God honestly, then release it. Let His track record, which is perfect, replace the track record of people, which isn't. That trade is where real hope begins.
Father, thank You that Your word never fails and Your promises never expire. Help me trust You fully today, even where people have let me down. I choose to rest my hope in You. Amen.
