Nehemiah 2:20

When Nehemiah set out to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, he didn't just face hard labor — he faced people who mocked him and wanted him to quit. Notice how he responded: he didn't spend his energy arguing with critics or defending himself. He simply declared his confidence in God and got back to work. If you step out to do what God has placed on your heart, expect some pushback too.

Here's the key to Nehemiah's courage: he knew whose servant he was. Before you chase provision or prosperity, settle that identity question first. You serve the God of heaven, and He owns everything you will ever need. When you really believe that, other people's opinions shrink down to their proper size.

Faith and action always travel together. Nehemiah believed God would prosper them, and then they arose and built. Trusting God isn't sitting on your couch waiting for a breakthrough — it's getting up every morning and doing the next right thing in front of you.

So what's your wall to rebuild? Maybe it's a strained marriage, a stalled career, a broken dream, or a ministry idea you've been sitting on. Take one practical step this week: make the call, write the plan, have the conversation, offer the apology. Critics will keep talking, but God is the one who brings the increase.

And one more thing — protect your assignment. Not every voice deserves a seat at your table. Some people will only drain your vision, so be gracious, but keep building with the people God has actually called alongside you.

Dear Lord, thank You that You prosper the work You call me to do. Help me rise up and build today with confidence in Your provision, and keep me from being distracted by discouraging voices. In Jesus' name, Amen.
