They offered great sacrifices that day, and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy; and the women and the children also rejoiced, so that the joy of Jerusalem was heard even far away.
The people in this story had just finished weeks of hard, exhausting work rebuilding Jerusalem's walls. They had faced opposition, fear, and fatigue. But when the job was done, they didn't just move on to the next thing. They stopped, celebrated, and gave God the credit He deserved.
That's a habit worth copying. Many of us rush from one task to the next without ever pausing to thank God for what He's carried us through. Take a moment today to name something He has done for you, even something small, and actually celebrate it instead of brushing past it.
Notice too how loud their joy was. It carried far beyond the city walls. When God blesses you, don't keep it quiet. Tell a friend, thank Him out loud, let your family see the smile on your face. Joy that stays hidden helps no one.
And everyone joined in, men, women, and children alike. Gratitude was not saved for a special few. So bring your whole household into it. At dinner tonight, ask each person to share one thing God did this week. Make thanking Him a family habit, not a holiday event.
If you're in a hard season right now and joy feels far away, take heart. Their celebration only came after struggle and obedience. Keep trusting, keep working, and believe that God has a day of rejoicing ahead for you too.
Dear God, thank You for all You've done in my life, even the blessings I've rushed past without noticing. Help me celebrate Your goodness out loud and draw my family and friends into that joy with me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
