“Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.
Jesus made prayer simple: ask, seek, knock. He wasn't giving us a formula to earn things from God—He was inviting us into a relationship where we're welcome to come boldly. If your child asked you for help, you wouldn't be annoyed. God feels the same way about you, only more so.
So today, ask specifically. Not just "God, bless my day," but "God, I need patience with my coworker at 2 p.m." Vague prayers often lead to vague answers. When you name what you actually need, you'll also recognize the answer when it comes.
And notice that seeking and knocking involve movement. Seeking might mean opening your Bible instead of your phone first thing in the morning, or calling the wise friend instead of stewing alone. Knocking means showing up again tomorrow, even if today felt quiet. Persistence isn't nagging God—it's trusting Him.
Here's the real-life challenge: what's one thing you've been carrying alone because you never actually asked God for help? Bring it to Him today, in plain words. Then take one small step, and keep knocking until the door opens.
Remember, a loving Father gives good gifts to His children. Sometimes the answer is yes, sometimes it's wait, and sometimes He has something better in mind. But He never ignores a heart that comes to Him.
Dear Lord, thank You that I can come to You honestly with what I need. Help me ask boldly, seek You actively, and keep knocking even when I don't see the answer yet. I trust Your heart for me today. Amen.
