We all have a tendency to rank God's commands. The big ones, like honesty and faithfulness, get our attention, while the smaller ones get skipped. But Jesus makes it clear that none of God's words are disposable. Every instruction from Him deserves our careful yes, not a casual shrug.
So what does this look like on an ordinary Tuesday? It looks like telling the truth when a small lie would be easier. It means keeping your word about little things, like showing up when you said you would. Obedience in the small stuff is where real character gets built.
Notice that Jesus pairs doing with teaching. Whether you realize it or not, you are always teaching someone, whether it's your kids, your coworkers, or your friends, just by how you live. When they see you take God seriously in the details, they learn to do the same.
The good news is that greatness in God's kingdom isn't about fame or platforms. It's about quiet, steady faithfulness that others can follow. Pick one small area of obedience you've been overlooking and start there today.
Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I've treated some of Your commands as optional. Help me stay faithful in the small things and live in a way that points others toward You. Amen.
