Sometimes doing the right thing costs us something. Maybe you refused to go along with a lie at work and got labeled as difficult. Maybe you skipped an event because it compromised your values, and now you're the one left out of the group chat. Jesus said moments like these aren't signs of failure—they're actually signs of blessing.
That feels strange, doesn't it? Rejection never feels like a gift. But Jesus isn't saying the pain itself is good; He's saying that when you suffer for doing what's right, God is close to you, and your reward is secure in a way nothing on earth can take away.
So how do you live this out today? Start by not watering down your faith just to keep the peace. Speak honestly when honesty is unpopular. Treat people kindly even when they mock you for it, and refuse to repay insults with insults.
And if you're in a season where standing for God has left you isolated or misunderstood, take heart. You are not forgotten, and this isn't the end of your story. Keep doing good, keep trusting, and remember whose Kingdom you belong to.
Dear Lord, give me the courage to stand for what is right, even when it costs me something. Help me endure rejection with grace, knowing my reward is safe with You. Amen.
