Matthew 24:42

Jesus didn't tell us to watch because He wanted us anxious—He told us because He loves us. When we know something important is coming, we live differently. We pay attention. We don't waste the days we've been given.

Ask yourself an honest question today: if I knew Jesus was coming back this week, what would I change? Maybe there's a grudge you'd finally release, an apology you'd make, or a habit you'd walk away from. Whatever came to mind first—don't wait. That's your starting point.

Watching for the Lord doesn't mean staring at the sky or predicting dates. It means living every ordinary day with purpose: doing your work well, loving the people right in front of you, and keeping your heart soft toward God. Readiness isn't a one-time event—it's a daily posture.

Here's a simple way to practice this: start each morning with one quiet sentence—"Lord, help me live today ready." Then go about your day with your eyes open. Notice who needs encouragement, where you can be honest, and where God might be speaking. A focused life is a ready life.

Dear Lord, forgive me for the days I've drifted through life half-asleep. Wake up my heart today and help me live each moment ready for You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
