Jesus saw how people scrambled for the best seats and the loudest praise, and He flipped the whole system upside down. We still do it today, just in quieter ways. We polish our image, fish for compliments, and hate being wrong. Pride is sneaky like that.
The good news is humility starts with small, ordinary choices. Let a coworker take the credit instead of correcting the record. Say the words 'I was wrong' without adding a list of excuses. Ask a question in a conversation instead of offering another opinion.
It applies online too. Before you post, ask yourself if you are sharing to serve others or just to be seen. Then try doing one kind thing today that no one will ever find out about. God sees it, and His approval is enough.
Here is the beautiful promise tucked inside this teaching: you do not have to fight for recognition. God Himself lifts up the people who choose the low place. The safest spot to stand is not on a pedestal, but on your knees.
Dear Lord, keep me from chasing praise and help me choose the low place today. Teach me to serve quietly, trusting that You will lift me up in Your perfect timing. Amen.
