He called to himself his twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every sickness.
When Jesus picked His twelve disciples, He didn't choose the most impressive people in the room. Fishermen, a tax collector, ordinary men with doubts and rough edges—that was His team. That should encourage you, because it means He can use you too, right where you are.
Notice that the authority came from Jesus, not from the disciples themselves. They didn't earn it or work it up on their own; they simply received it from Him. In the same way, when you pray for someone who is sick or hurting, your confidence rests in His power, not your performance.
So who in your life needs healing today? Maybe it's a friend facing a scary diagnosis, a coworker drowning in stress, or a family member carrying wounds nobody can see. Don't underestimate what a simple, sincere prayer offered in Jesus' name can do.
This week, take one small step. Ask someone, 'Can I pray for you?' It might feel awkward for a moment, but God often works through our willingness far more than our eloquence. You bring the compassion; He brings the power.
Dear Lord, thank You for calling ordinary people like me to carry Your healing into the world. Give me the courage to pray boldly for those around me who are sick or broken. Use my simple faith to touch someone's life this week. Amen.
