Jesus invites us to live with open hands, not clenched fists. It sounds backward to the world: give things away and you'll end up with more, not less. But God's economy works differently. When we release what we hold, He becomes the one keeping the books, and He is never stingy.
Giving is bigger than money. Sure, it includes your wallet, but it also includes your time, your attention, your encouragement, and even your forgiveness. Sometimes the most valuable gift you can hand someone today is twenty minutes of real listening or a kind word when they expect criticism.
So here's a practical challenge: find one way to give before the day ends. Buy coffee for the person behind you in line. Text a friend who's struggling. Slip some cash toward a need you noticed. Do it quietly, without strings attached, and without waiting for a thank-you.
And watch the measure you use. If you give grudgingly or only when it's convenient, you're living small. Give the way God gives you—generously, cheerfully, pressed down and overflowing—and you'll find your own soul growing fuller even as your hands stay open.
Dear Lord, make me a generous person today. Open my eyes to the needs around me and loosen my grip on what I've been holding too tightly. Thank You for giving to me far beyond what I could ever give back. Amen.
