Luke 6:31

Jesus gives us a simple test for every relationship: treat people the way you want to be treated. Notice He doesn't say wait around for others to go first. Love moves first, even when nobody else is moving.

Try this today: before you respond to someone, pause and ask, "How would I want to be treated if I were in their shoes?" That question changes things. It slows down the sharp reply to your spouse, the eye-roll at the slow cashier, the cold shoulder to the coworker who annoyed you.

Most of the time, living this out is found in small moments. Let someone merge in traffic. Listen without checking your phone. Say thank you and actually mean it. Give the same grace to others that you hope for when it's your turn to mess up.

And here's the hard part: do it even for people who won't return the favor. That's where real love shows up. After all, this is exactly how God treats us—generous and kind before we ever deserve it.

Dear Lord, open my eyes today to the people around me and help me treat them the way I long to be treated. When it's hard, remind me how much grace You've shown me. Make my love go first. Amen.
