On one of those days, he was teaching; and there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by who had come out of every village of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was with him to heal them.
Notice that Jesus wasn't doing anything spectacular when God's power showed up. He was simply teaching, doing the ordinary work right in front of Him. That's often where God's power meets us: in everyday faithfulness, not just big dramatic moments. Whatever is on your plate today, do it as unto Him.
The room that day was full of critics, religious experts sitting nearby, watching and judging. Yet God's healing power was right there in the room anyway. Don't let skeptical voices or a tense atmosphere keep you from drawing near to Jesus.
In the verses that follow, some friends actually tear open a roof to get a paralyzed man to Jesus. Getting to Him took effort and persistence, not just a seat in the crowd. Ask yourself what barrier is standing between you and the help you need, and then push through it.
God still heals today, and not only bodies. He heals wounded hearts, broken relationships, and anxious minds too. So position yourself close to Jesus, and trust His power to do what you cannot.
Dear Lord, thank You that Your power is present right now, even in my ordinary moments. Help me draw near with real faith, ignore every voice of doubt, and push past whatever stands in my way. Heal my body, my heart, and my relationships as only You can. Amen.
