Behold, I send out the promise of my Father on you. But wait in the city of Jerusalem until you are clothed with power from on high.
Before Jesus sent His friends out to change the world, He told them to wait. Not to rush, not to figure it all out on their own, but to wait until they were clothed with power from above. That instruction still matters, because we cannot live the life God calls us to on our own strength.
Think about where you keep running on empty. Maybe it is loving someone difficult, resisting an old temptation, or speaking about your faith at work. Those things take more than willpower and good intentions. They take the power of God's Spirit working in you.
So how do you wait on God today? Start your morning with a few quiet minutes simply asking Him to fill you afresh. Before a hard conversation or a big task, pause and pray, "Lord, I need Your power here, not just mine." Waiting is not doing nothing. It is active dependence on God instead of yourself.
And if you are in a season where life feels paused, take heart. God often uses waiting to equip us, not to waste us. What looks like a delay may actually be Him getting you dressed for what comes next.
Dear Lord, forgive me for the times I have run ahead on my own strength. Fill me with Your Spirit today and teach me to wait on You, trusting that Your power is enough for everything You ask of me. Amen.
