Luke 20:42

When Jesus quoted these words, He was making a stunning point: the promised Messiah isn't just David's descendant—He's David's Lord. That means Jesus isn't simply a good teacher, a prophet, or an example to follow. He's the King with all authority in heaven and on earth.

This prophecy was written centuries before Jesus came, and it was fulfilled perfectly. That should build real confidence in you. If God kept His biggest promise—sending the Savior He said He would send—you can trust Him with your smaller ones, like your family, your work, and your uncertain future.

Notice that the invitation was to sit at God's right hand, the place of honor and rest. Jesus isn't pacing heaven's floors, worried about how things will turn out. He reigns. So when the news is bad or your week feels like it's falling apart, you can live from a place of peace instead of panic, because your King is already on the throne.

Here's the practical question for today: is Jesus actually Lord of every part of your life, or just a honored guest in some of them? Take an honest look at your schedule, your money, and your relationships. Give Him the throne in those areas, not just a seat at the table, and you'll find that His authority brings freedom, not burden.

Dear Lord, thank You that Jesus reigns at Your right hand and that every promise You make comes true. Help me trust Your word when life feels uncertain, and give Jesus full lordship over every corner of my life today. Amen.
