Think about the last time you threw a party for good news—a graduation, a new baby, a friend finally getting the job they prayed for. Jesus says heaven throws that kind of celebration every time one person turns back to God. One person. One genuine step home. That alone is enough to set off joy in heaven.
This changes how we see the people around us. That coworker, neighbor, or family member who seems far from God is not a lost cause—they are a potential party. When we stop writing people off and start praying for them and welcoming them, we join in what heaven is already doing.
It also changes how we respond when someone actually comes back. Maybe a friend admits a struggle and wants to change, or someone walks into church after years away. Our job is not to inspect their past but to celebrate their return, the same way heaven does.
And if the wandering person is you, take heart. God is not waiting to lecture you; He is waiting to celebrate you. You can come home today, and all of heaven will rejoice over it.
Dear Lord, thank You that You celebrate every person who comes back to You, including me. Give me Your heart to welcome others with joy instead of judgment. Help me join heaven's celebration today. Amen.
