Jesus had strong words for the Bible experts of His day. They knew Scripture better than anyone, yet they never let it actually change them. It's a sobering reminder that knowing about God is not the same as knowing God. Head knowledge alone can leave us standing outside the very door we've been talking about.
Be honest with yourself today: has what you've learned from God actually shaped how you live? It's easy to collect sermons, podcasts, and verses like facts on a shelf. But knowledge only matters when it moves into obedience. Pick one thing God has shown you recently and actually do it this week.
This verse also warns us about getting in other people's way. Sometimes we make faith so complicated, or we act like gatekeepers, that seekers give up before they ever find Jesus. Ask yourself: is my attitude, my criticism, or my example making it easier or harder for someone to come to God?
The good news is that God's truth is meant to open doors, not lock them. When you learn something from Him, share it simply and humbly. Point people to Jesus, not to how much you know. A life that live out what it learns is the clearest teaching anyone can give.
Let your knowledge serve love today. Enter in yourself, then hold the door open wide for others.
Father, keep me from being someone who knows much but lives little. Help me obey what You teach me and never stand in the way of someone seeking You. Make me a door-holder, not a gatekeeper. In Jesus' name, Amen.
