Before Jesus began His ministry, someone was sent ahead to get hearts ready. John the Baptist didn't perform miracles or build anything grand. He simply called people to turn around, make things right, and open their lives to God. That was the assignment—and it's still needed today.
You may not think of yourself as a 'forerunner,' but every believer has people in their life whose hearts need preparing. Maybe it's a child who's drifted from church, a neighbor carrying wounds from bad religious experiences, or a friend who's simply never seen real faith lived out. Your steady love, honesty, and patience might be exactly what softens the ground before God does His work.
Notice that the verse mentions fathers turning to their children. Revival often starts at the kitchen table, not the church building. If there's a relationship in your family that's strained or cold, take the first step this week—a phone call, an apology, a simple act of kindness. Making peace at home is holy work.
Practical way to live this out: pray for two or three people by name every day, and ask God for one small way to serve each of them this week. You don't have to preach. Just prepare. God does the transforming—He simply invites you to help get the way ready.
Dear Lord, use my ordinary life to prepare hearts for You. Help me mend what's broken in my family and love the people around me with patience and truth. I trust You to do the changing—make me faithful to make room. Amen.
