Some verses in Leviticus stop us cold, and this is one of them. But the severity of this law reveals something important about God's heart: He takes the boundaries of family life very seriously. What happens inside a home is never hidden from Him, and He stands as defender of the vulnerable.
Our culture often treats these boundaries as negotiable. Yet God designed family to be a place of safety and trust, and when His clear lines are crossed, the damage spreads to spouses, children, and generations. That is why He calls it what it is—perversion—instead of softening the truth.
So how do we live this out today? Guard your home. Keep your family relationships marked by honor and purity, and if you ever see signs of abuse or exploitation, do not stay silent. Speak up, act quickly, and protect those who cannot protect themselves.
And if past failure in this area weighs on you, remember that while sin is serious, no failure is beyond God's grace. Bring it into the light, confess it, and let Him begin to heal what was broken. Ask Him for a pure heart and the courage to hold fast to His standards, even when the world calls them outdated.
