God gave His people clear boundaries because He loved them. He had just rescued them from slavery, and the customs around them were quietly destroying everyone who practiced them. His call to stay pure was never about ruining their fun—it was about protecting their hearts, their families, and their future.
We face the same reality today. The world around us normalizes things that slowly pull us away from God—the shows we binge, the conversations we join, the habits we make excuses for. Staying pure starts with honestly asking: is this drawing me closer to God, or slowly numbing me to Him?
Purity is lived out in small, everyday choices. Maybe it means filtering what you watch, walking away from gossip, or staying honest in a situation where cutting corners would be easier. Pick one area this week where you know you have drifted, and take one concrete step to guard it.
And when you fall short—and we all do—remember that God does not just command purity, He provides it. Run to Him quickly. He forgives, He cleans up, and He gives you the strength to start again.
Father, keep my heart sensitive to anything that defiles me. Give me the courage to say no to what pulls me away from You and joy in walking Your way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
