Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying,“I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”
Think about how it feels to walk through a dark room you don't know well. You move slowly, you bump into things, and you're never quite sure what's ahead of you. That's a picture of life without Jesus—guessing our way through decisions, relationships, and worries on our own.
Jesus offers something better. When He says He is the light of the world, He's inviting us to stop stumbling around and start walking with Him, one step at a time. We don't need to see the whole path; we just need to follow the One who does.
So what does following Him look like today? It looks like bringing your next decision to Him before you make it. It looks like opening Scripture before you open your phone. It looks like asking, "Does this choice keep me walking in His light or pulling me back into darkness?"
Here's a simple challenge for today: pick one area where you've been trying to find your own way—maybe a worry, a habit, or a relationship—and consciously hand it over to Jesus. Ask Him to light that corner of your life. Light isn't something you have to manufacture; it's Someone you follow.
Dear Lord, thank You for being the light that guides me when everything around me feels dark. Help me follow You closely today instead of relying on my own understanding. Shine Your light into every corner of my life. Amen.
