Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom they pierced.”
Centuries before the cross, this moment was already written down. Nothing about Jesus' death caught God by surprise. That is good news for you today, because it means nothing in your life catches Him by surprise either. The God who planned redemption down to the smallest detail can be trusted with your unfinished story.
Notice the simple word 'look.' God does not ask you to understand everything or fix yourself first. He simply invites you to look at Jesus. So make it a daily habit to pause, even for a minute, and think about what Christ did for you at the cross.
This is especially good news on your worst days. When you fail, your instinct is to hide in shame, but the cross says otherwise. Look at Him instead of running from Him. The very people who pierced Him were offered forgiveness, and that offer still stands for you.
Finally, let what you look at shape how you live. If grace has pierced your heart, it should show in how you speak to your family, treat your coworkers, and respond to people who wrong you. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and His mercy will slowly become visible in you.
Dear Lord, thank You that Your plan of love was written long before I ever knew I needed it. Help me to look to Jesus every day, especially when I feel ashamed or far from You. Let Your mercy shape the way I treat everyone I meet. Amen.
