After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said,“I am thirsty!”
Even on the cross, Jesus wasn't distracted from the plan of God. In His deepest pain, He knew the Scriptures and made sure every last detail was fulfilled. Think about that: at the end of everything, His heart was still anchored in God's Word.
That should give us incredible confidence in the Bible. If God kept His promises down to something as small as a moment of thirst, you can trust Him with the big things you're facing today. His Word doesn't fail, even when everything around you feels like it's falling apart.
This moment also shows us that Jesus truly understands us. He knows what it feels like to be thirsty, exhausted, and at the end of yourself. So don't hold back the small stuff in prayer — the tiredness, the aches, the ordinary struggles. He cares about all of it.
Finally, Jesus finished what He was given to do, all the way to the end. Maybe today you're weary of a hard season or a long obedience. Keep going. God sees your faithfulness, and no step of obedience is wasted in His hands.
Father, thank You that every promise in Your Word came true in Jesus, even in His final moments. Help me trust You fully today, and bring You even my smallest needs and struggles. Give me the strength to stay faithful and finish well what You've placed before me. Amen.
