Jesus spoke these words to His disciples on the night before the cross, and notice what He said first: until now, you have asked nothing. Sometimes we go through entire days, even entire seasons, carrying our burdens quietly instead of bringing them to God. He is inviting us to break that silence.

Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.
Think honestly about why you hold back. Maybe it feels too small to bother God with, or maybe you have quietly decided to handle things on your own. But Jesus did not say bring me only your big emergencies. He said ask, plainly and simply, like a child asking a loving father.
Asking in His name is not a magic phrase tacked onto the end of a prayer. It means coming to God the way Jesus would, wanting what He wants, and trusting His heart even when the answer looks different than we expected. That kind of asking pulls us closer to Him, and closeness to Him is where real joy lives.
Here is a practical step for today: write down one thing you have been trying to carry by yourself. It could be a worry about money, a strained relationship, or a decision you keep putting off. Then pray about it out loud, simply and specifically, and thank God in advance for caring about it. Do that daily this week and watch what happens to your joy.
Dear Lord, forgive me for the prayers I never prayed and the burdens I kept to myself. Today I bring You what I have been carrying alone, and I trust You with it fully. Fill my joy as I learn to ask, and keep me close to You. Amen.
