John 15:13

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

John 15:13 · Love
Reflection 1

Jesus spoke these words the night before He went to the cross, so He knew exactly what He was asking of us. Real love, the kind He modeled, is not mainly a feeling. It is a decision to put someone else ahead of yourself, even when it costs you something.

Reflection 2

Most of us will probably never be asked to literally die for a friend. But every single day we get smaller chances to lay down our lives: giving our time when we are tired, really listening when we would rather talk, or giving up our own comfort to meet someone else's need.

Reflection 3

Think of one person in your life who needs this kind of love right now. Maybe it is a friend walking through a hard season, a spouse who feels unseen, or a family member who is difficult to love. Sacrificial love usually looks ordinary: a phone call, a meal, showing up when it is inconvenient.

Reflection 4

So today, ask God to show you one specific way to put someone else first. It might cost you time, energy, or pride, and that is exactly the point. Love is not measured by what it feels but by what it gives.

Prayer

Father, thank You for loving me with a love that held nothing back. Show me one person I can serve today, even when it costs me something. Help me love not just with words, but with my actions. Amen.
